Illustrious personages and saints are born to work for the welfare and betterment of the society and to preach the absolute essence of a righteous life. This applies to the ninth Guru of Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj, the most Reverand Maharaj –Mahant Inderesh Charan Das Ji- a great man who ever lived for mankind and never drew a breath for himself and his family.

He was only born for the upliftment of the masses. His life was full of exceptional qualities Shri Mahant Indresh Charan Das Ji was born on 14th Nov 1919 in Village Khamana Patti Dhangu District Pauri Garhwal in a Poverty-striken family. He was the only son of Pandit Dayadhar Kukreti and Shrimati Maheshwari Devi. His parents named him Shridhar Prasad.

He had to face adversity on taking education. He was also a freedom fighter and also went to jail with Lal Bahadur Shastri. He was great visionary, a leader and a philanthropist who built a chain of 122 educational institutions in Dehradun, Garhwal ,Haryana, Punjab and Himanchal Pradesh, He was instrumental in establishing these schools. He was a great administrator, organizer and a man of principles and above all a very kind and generous person.
